Fairy tales do exist in real life. Those dreamy and majestic castles with breathtaking views and mesmerizing architecture with so many details are all possible, and most important, nearby to us for free!! Estoi Palace is painted in a beautiful bright pink surrounded by a marvelous garden. I had no idea we had such preciosity so near to us. This palace is absolutely fascinating and beyond unique. It is something else and different from what we are used to see.
The Palace is located in a region which has registered human occupation since the Neopolithic Period, with important and prominent for the Roman Ruins of Milreu. The Palace of Estoi initially belonged to the morgado Francisco José Carvalhal e Vasconcelos, a member of the Royal Court, who made the Palace his residence. It was built at the end of 18th century, whitin the baron period.
It was later acquired, in 1893, by the future Viscount of Estoi, Francisco José da Silva, who ordered its restoration at the hands of architect Domingos da Silva Meira.
The Palace is composed of a main building with the tea hall and the astonishing Versailles style gardens. The Palace, with its rococo style, is decorated with panels of tiles and vitrals.
